London Poem: Day 321

4 July

I’m trying to build something
That will last,
Rough edges and soft to bring
Two ends together.
We can be builders,
Plans laid end over end,
Signalling the placement for
Every knock and nail,
But what stands in years
To come is still a surprise,
Because no matter how exact
Our plans may be, there is no
Foresight to see
What stands for us.
