London Poem: Day 235

9 April

The causal beat,
Hearts flutter and
The world stands still.
How does a world jitter with
Confusion, as it repeats,
Time and time again?
Swallow it up in a single gulp.
Just moving between rows,
Back and forth, and illness
Seeping in, there is never
Enough light to look beyond
The curve of the earth.
Move towards it, and inevitably
Behind, before anything
Happens again.
