London Poem: Day 76

1 November

Not even weather prevents
Quiet travels through
Unknown country.
Water splashes up
And rises overhead.
We know the dangers,
And though we reach for
Each other in the harrowing moments,
True fear is held still
By the romantic thought
That if we go, we go together.
The world will gulp,
And away we’ll go.
But, today is not that day.
Instead, we will watch history,
In all its riveting stillness,
Until it is our time
To be swallowed up by the world.
