London Poem: Day 72

28 October

Lights flicker and flame
In the succeeding darkness.
What sounds do we hear
That recall a life
Of wanting and desire?
With such sounds
Other senses perk:
The sweet perfume
Of diesel and leafy greens;
The taste of Autumn rain on
Eager lips –
It makes a love to burgeon
From waking minute to Dreamy second.
These sounds made me dream of a touch
That I could never recreate in full.
Yet, now, it all blends together
To make what we yet have a name to name it.
