London Poem: Day 59

15 October

Quietly fear envelops,
Threatening to bring the world down.
I’ve seen madness,
Harrowing in such swiftness,
Circle and swoop in,
Just as it has before.
To stop nature confounds,
Though I know it well,
I can only sit by and watch
As it races in to claim everything worth claiming.
I am a slave to the trials of habit, and fear.
I am nothing to it,
merely a spectator.
But, how do I move away,
And arrest fear without loss?
