London Poem: Day 7

24 August

Today another body has slipped away–
Lost into the unknown.
We each move closer to death,
Hour after to hour,
Though the immediate still works on us.
Unseen and rarely summoned,
Fortune is clouded by desired foresight
Into a life unobtainable
By the dismissal of the life at present.
Knick-knacks stand to dilute the best of man,
Stain judgment and bring attention away from beauty.
As life falls away
The clarity of importance bursts
And reminds the soul
That life is fleeting and,
The sun will surely hoist itself above the horizon,
But what is warmth to those without?
Merely, a sound too far away to know it’s meaning.
